Fast forward to late in Flair’s career and he’s with another powerful stable that did the exact same thing. Now they weren’t on the same level as popularity with the Four Horsemen, but they did fairly well. Evolution was created by Triple H and The Nature Boy Ric Flair himself.
Flair served as the legendary mentor, while Triple H was clearly the leader of the group. The two top men of the company wanted to bring two up and coming Superstars under their wings and mold them into the future of this company. They both ended up choosing Dave ‘The Animal’ Batista and Randy Orton.
The stable lasted from January 20th, 2003 until October 3rd, 2005. It all started with Randy Orton winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Chris Benoit at Summer Slam of 2004. It finally came to a close after Dave Batista won the Royal Rumble and had to make the decision to either face the WWE Champion or Triple H for his World Heavyweight Championship.
Batista ended up turning face and delivered a Batista Bomb to Triple H through a table that was set up in the ring. The two would go onto WrestleMania 21, where Batista would win his first ever World Heavyweight Championship.
Now that Triple H is no longer competing, Batista’s only target happens to be Randy Orton. A former member of Evolution. These two grew up together in a way (professionally) and could possibly headlining WrestleMania XXX on April 6th, 2014.
All Batista has to do is win the 30-Man Royal Rumble tomorrow night. His friend/old mentor Ric Flair actually sent out a Tweet wishing his buddy Batista the best of luck.
Ric Flair confronted Randy Orton to start off WWE Old School at the beginning of the month. Tomorrow night’s event should be amazing.
Best of luck to my old Evolution running buddy @DaveBautista. Style and profile all the way to WrestleMania! #RoyalRumble
