The Rock's return to WWE has electrified fans and followers, and now he's headed to his old stomping grounds in Southern Florida. The Miami Herald reports that the Rock will tape Raw in Tampa Bay on January 7, with a return to SmackDown in Miami on January 8.
These matches will serve as a tune-up for his title match in Phoenix with CM Punk on January 27 and WrestleMania 29 after that in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but they are hardly an afterthought for WWE fans in South Florida.
As most fans will remember, the Rock and John Cena electrified fans with a match in WrestleMania 28, the Rock's last trip to South Florida. That WrestleMania was both the highest-grossing event in WWE pay-per-view history and also in terms of live tickets sold.
The SmackDown show on January 7 will also feature a match between Big Show and Sheamus, as well as returning stars Randy Orton and Sin Cara.
The Rock, though, is the main attraction as he returns to his home base. He is immensely popular in Southern Florida, as his presence was a big factor in the record 78,000 attendance at WrestleMania 28.
While his return to South Florida might not be quite as electrifying, it should promise big attendance, big viewership and big thrills.
For sure, when the Rock is in South Florida, good things happen. The fans respond well to him and get even more into the match than they usually do.
Further adding to the intrigue is that the Rock will be at his best trying to build interest in his championship match. Some exciting performances from him will be sure to garner plenty of excitement for that big match.
Wrestling fans in South Florida, get excited. The Rock is coming, and he will put on a show.
