Rhodes Scholars defeated Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara at TLC in an exciting bout to become the number one contenders for the tag team titles. It ended with Rhodes pushing Cara off the ropes and into a table on the outside.
What does this mean for the tag team?
It seems the WWE will continue Rhodes Scholars’ pursuit of the tag team titles. The team of Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow was well into winning the titles from Team Hell No before Rhodes suffered a concussion against Kane in an episode of WWE’s Main Event.
They fought Team Hell No at Hell in a Cell and won via disqualification. Their feud continued into Survivor Series, but Rhodes was injured and didn’t make the event. Rhodes’ injury left Sandow dangling without much to do. For the past few weeks, Sandow kept searching for an apprentice but so far had failed.
Now that Rhodes is back, they’ve complied two impressive victories in a row. Before Sunday night’s victory, they survived a 4-man tag team elimination bout defeating The Usos, the Primetime Players and Primo & Epico.
These two victories should provide Rhodes Scholars with a renewed purpose in the tag team division. Their sights are set on Team Hell No once again, and Sunday night’s victory proved it.
From Team Hell No’s point of view, they just lost their six-man tag match against The Shield with Ryback. How will that affect them? If Rhodes Scholars faces Team Hell No, will The Shield interfere? Which side will they pick?
Regardless of possible interference, Rhodes Scholars wants those tag team titles, and they’ll do whatever it takes to win. Tonight, they got one step closer to that goal
